Aaaaarrrghhhhhh
I have been DEPRIVED of internet for one entire day. Do you have any idea how that feels like? And idleThinK was (for the first time) not updated for a whole day. Oh my god. Anyway, I still don't have internet running at home. Currently I am, sad to say, voluntarily at school, handing in two voluntarily done essays. Sacrilege. Considering how badly technology seems to work in general (I can't tell you how many times my toaster has broken itself) I sincerely find it a truly amazing thing that anyone ever gets onto an airplane.
Anyway, due to the lack of access to an internet connection, this entry is going to have to be some kind of backdated, horrible "Dear Diary"-esque thing, simply because I hate leaving gaps in my online existence chronicle. I had an awesome Saturday night (apart from an extremely drunk individual trying to stick his tongue down my throat), and I must add a big Happy Birthday Will!!!, in case he accuses me of neglecting my role as a Friend. More birthday wishes to Sam Leak, Reena and Steph Chan. It seems as though a huge percentage of people I know have birthdays in May. August must be a busy month...haha. Anyway.
In a seemingly unrelated strand of thought (but I assure you it's not)... We're all aware of those cliched expressions: "beauty is only skin deep", "don't judge a book by its cover", etc. etc. And it's easy to say that you should date people who are amazing people, or people who you can talk to, etc. etc. But whether we like to admit it or not, first impressions are looks. There's no question about it, and if anyone says that this is unnatural or "not how it's supposed to be", well, I would like to remind you that light travels faster than sound, and that's about as natural as it gets. So nyah. Especially meeting people for the first time (Will, I'm trying to put this as obscurely as possible ;P), it is quite possibly all about looks, first and foremost.
This is not to say that it's entirely dependent on looks. Whether or not the other person remains interested is, of course, what comes after looks, e.g. whether you are a WEIRDO who EATS RAW FROG EYES and SPEAKS LIEK A N00B13 (unless s/he likes people like that, in which case you're set), and of course conversation. And in that way, "don't judge a book by its cover" is true to an extent, since (to keep up the analogy) you shouldn't write the review before you read the book, but it is actually impossible to avoid judging it on appearance. Some judgement will always take place. But anyway. It's all related, I promise.
Well, I'll see what happens on Wednesday, Will :) Anyway at the beginning of this entry, I intended to write a "Dear Diary I did this on Saturday and this on Sunday" post, but I've found that a) I seem to have digressed quite substantially, and b) I can't actually remember what I did yesterday. So you'll have to content yourselves with this.
Hopefully my internet should be fixed soon.
