Apologetic

Bah. We were invited to Genting Highlands to perform at a concert in June (by "we" I mean our specialist children's orchestra), but it was just cancelled today because our teachers felt that an orchestra comprising of 6-16 year olds (with the exception of me, the ancient pianist, ahaha) wouldn't survive a consecutive three-times-a- day-for-three-days performance stint. Bah.

Well anyway, here is a sample of two of our violinists playing a Sheila Majid pop-type duet (accompanied by aforementioned ancient pianist, i.e. me): 1 2 3 4. Apologies for the atrocious sound and picture quality, but it was taken with a digital camera, by someone who didn't know how to use it. And apologies for each clip being only 1 minute long, but that's the maximum video recording time for the camera. So, apologies for all the breaks in the song. Apologies for the piano playing, which in no way matches up to the beautiful violin playing, mainly because there is no piano accompaniment score and I have to make it up every time I play it (no two performances are ever the same!). Oh, and also apologies for the last clip being only 18 seconds long, but the memory stick ran out of space. Anyway, enough apologies. They are brilliant, aren't they, considering they're only 12 years old :)

Anyway, we've also just been invited to another concert in July sometime, to perform for our Prime Minister and a whole bevy of Datuks and Datins (VIPs). Which is also quite cool. Music...what would I do without it? If there ever were a "Force", that would be it for me. There is so little that compares to playing the piano late at night when everything around you is so quiet that every note sounds like a symphony, and the air is so breathlessly still that every sound seems to have colour, and the music seems to breathe.
Matrix Reloaded in five hours.

Oh, and 5000 hits today. I'm trying to make the 10,000 mark before I leave for university. Hands Comments up who thinks I can make it.

NB: Sorry (dammit), just one more apology, I promise. Those movie clips will only be available for download until this post scrolls off my main page into the archives, because they take up 30.6MB of Tom's server space, and the bandwidth they eat up is going to be horrendous. So if you don't appreciate instrumental music, well, don't download it :) Sorry! (ah, dammit)

NB2: Ok LAST apology: at the time when I click "Save" on this post, I'll still be uploading the movie files. It's uploading the first file right now. So if the download doesn't work yet, come back in about...however long it will take a 56k modem to upload 30MB. Try Christmas.

[Update]: Ok the first two clips are up, but I have to go and watch the Matrix now :) I'll do the last two some other time, when I have another...five years to kill.
