English, damn English
There is something fundamentally wrong about the word "eight". What exactly is the function of the "g" and the "h" in there? If there's any word that doesn't sound remotely like how it's written, it's "eight". After laboriously teaching my youngest student the concept of phonics, e.g. how "g" makes the guh sound and how "ei" makes the "eye" sound, that god forsaken "eight" blows the entire lesson out of the window. And don't even start me on her attempts to spell it (think "hrgrt"). Damn the English language.
Also, the word "phonetic" is not phonetic. English is sadistic. From now on, Rachel no speaka Inggerish.
