Holiday reading

After almost three weeks of existing in a more or less entirely mindless state of being, I received a letter in the mail today that, upon closer inspection (and dread growing with every word) turned out to be a preliminary booklist for my uni course starting in September. Intellectual reading during holidays. I was previously convinced these two concepts were mutually exclusive by some kind of natural law; apparently, I have been Deluded. Here is the list, for your reading and mocking purposes:

  1. Keywords by R. Williams.
  2. Age of Revolution by Eric J. Hobsbawm
  3. Age of Capital by Eric J. Hobsbawm
  4. Age of Empire by Eric J. Hobsbawm
  5. Age of Extremes by Eric J. Hobsbawm

The letter also had the audacity to tack on this little addendum after advising me to "please read all these books":

Best wishes for your summer vacation.

I'm already suffering from sardonic, sadistic lecturers, and I haven't even gotten there yet. The future holds much joy.

In other news, I am seriously considering this.

Also, welcome to July.
