The fear sets in

The campaign response has been phenomenal; that is, if one considers the definition of "phenomenal" to be "transcending all expectations". I see now that £150 as a target for fifteen-minute posts was magnificently shortsighted, as in three short hours I have collected over £90.

Surely a post every 15 minutes will mean I will be literally writing nonstop for 24 hours. At least, if I am to generate satisfactory amounts of quality in my writing.

The fear sets in...

My presiding anxiety at this moment is that I shall develop a severe case of Cold Feet, and cave under the intrusive gaze of augmented public scrutiny. I have not the literary supremacy of Homer or George Orwell, nor the macabre humour of Joseph Heller, nor the gripping storytelling genius of Iain Banks.

And I'll thank you not to rub that in my face. Reality is painful enough.

An addendum: in my frenzy of poster-design, printing and charitable distribution, as a small step towards rectifying World Problems, I shall endeavour not to neglect consideration of other World Problems, such as rampant deforestation due to excessive paper usage...

But I had to print those 50 flyers. I'm sorry.
