Self-indulgence
Books are (one of) the only things I'll willingly spend money on, so give me good recommendations, so that I may descend upon Amazon with the best of birthday intentions.
Sigh. I wish I had a magic credit card that would ignore purchases of books, publications, journals or any other reading material. Honest to high hell, I'd have a planet-sized personal library before you could say "No one can read that many books in a lifetime".
