Wanderlust

This is a fairly accurate representation of where Alan and I were last night at about two in the morning. Here are some crucial differences:

  1. Everything was slightly more, you know, 3D.
  2. The roads were less multicoloured, and more like ultramarine and tarred grey. Maps really aren't too good with colour representation.
  3. The map doesn't really convey just how [insert expletives] cold it was.
  4. We don't actually leave trails of red behind us when we walk.

But other than that, it's not bad, as graphical representations go :)

Except...except that the map also doesn't show how the roads were flanked with grass that coruscated with crystallized dew. It doesn't show how the quietest of crackles, in the eerie shadows of witching hours, can sound like the grim stuff of nightmares. And the map won't show you the field where we stood, the thick silence carrying our laughter to the empty skies, stars merging into blurred motion lines as we spun insanely on the crackling grass, hemmed in by the brown glacial shadows of a birthing daybreak.

We stole a roadsign, too. The map doesn't show that either.
