Reader-meet
He turned quizzically towards me, head tilted, bemused. "So how is it," he ventured, "that you're so intellectual and ditzy at the same time?" I squealed and replied, "Oh my god, I'm so totally like, not ditzy!" In the next breath, "It's a cultivated defense mechanism, I think. An amalgamation of circumstance since high school. People get intimidated when I exercise vocabulary." He got the irony, I hope.
Like, I so totally hate using the term "defense mechanism".
