the steady movement of days whets an appetite hungry for the future. So much of this year is an impatient crawl towards change - stasis in motion, teetering on the brink of graduation. Horizons are more open than ever before. They say one's education is shaped like a pyramid whose apex is lodged within a PhD - to know something deeply and narrowly - but I've found that every stage of education has thrown open more and more doors, and indecision threatens. but I have been drinking in sunlight daily, or as daily as English meteorology permits (which is not so very daily at all), and greedily hoarding it in large mnemonic vats in my head (much like camels and their humps), to be drawn on when sunny days dwindle. In fact, a la le cycle méchant, this hoarding may actually be responsible for the increasing dearth of sunny days, in which case I apologize to the rest of you, and urge you to come plumb my brain for requisite sunniness in the coming months. I will probably be found in the library, buried in approx. 3.5 metric tons of reading.
