but everything is either too personal, too academic, or a terrible conflation of both, for a general audience.
i will say this: avoidance of issues will make them worse. two months ago i gave one ingratiating but slightly creepy nigerian boy my fake number because i could not bring myself to tell him i was not interested. two weeks later i ran into him at the bus stop, and subsequently wished to be swallowed up by spontaneously opening crevices in the ground. over the next month or so i continued to run into him, because dammit, he knows where i work and what bus i take. and just now, i discovered that he has started working at the same place that i work at.

conflict avoidance will do you NO GOOD. rush headlong into battles. enunciate. assert. and above all, never think you "will never see them again". you will.
