no, I cannot believe it
this has increased my spleen sufficiently to incite a post. This is the Patrick Henry College. Its mission: to train young fundamentalist Christians to become the next generation of America's cultural and political leaders. This, from a state which was founded on Enlightenment principles of separating state and religion? Young intellectuals trained to machinate American public and international policy on the premise that all people are sinners in need of (Christian America's) salvation? (Did I hear someone say imperialism? religious wars? the Crusades?) And worse yet, a college affiliated openly with top (conservative/Republican) politicians in Washington DC, breeding a whole generation of good little Godfearing civil servants who will one day be in a position to run America? You have got to be kidding me. What scares me most is not that this college exists, but that the voting populace collectively might just be stupid enough to sanction their ascension into office. I can't write any more on this just now.
