and while on the subject of memory
Forgetfulness, by Billy Collins [full text here]
(I am sorry it's so soft & badly-recorded, but I don't have a microphone, and I am softspoken anyway).
[Edit] I have been upstaged! a reader has just pointed out that not only has Forgetfulness been done in wonderful animation, but that it is in fact Billy Collins himself reading it. consider me bowed out :)
incidentally, I wholly recommend exploring dear Mr Collins; he is a dreamy armchair poet who sends me into raptures even at my lowest. here is a good place to start -- his attitude to poetry. other favourites: on falling in love with holden caulfield, on beautiful mortality, on rapturous days, on loss.
