malaysian interlude
over the past week there's been a major by-election raging in malaysia: a David & Goliath-esque showdown between the ruling coalition & the opposition-for-justice. naturally, the ruling coalition won, after a week-long frenzy of (oh, merely alleged) scaremongering, voter intimidation, cunning invocations of the constitution, police intervention, mainstream media manipulation and good old-fashioned electoral fraud and benevolent bribery.
