on the move again

Chicago from the air affirms once again, for me, the profound SimCityness of American metropolises -- a dense chequerboard of perfectly square zones hemmed in with roads and highways, and downtown Chicago stacked up geometrically against the waterfront. but flying in, there were those vast, irregular lakes, pale mirrors rimmed in with a motionless frost & beautiful in such a still, silent way ...

the frost is, of course, key: it is about -6C outside the hostel at the moment, which is the sole reason why I continue to be, you know, inside it.
