Atlas Shrugged [review]

Ah, Ayn Rand, purveyor of objectivism. I fell in love with this book when I was 15, and searching desperately for an intellectual foothold. Needless to say I'm insufficiently austere to make the leap to complete objectivism, but the premise is just compelling. A lot of people don't like this book, and let's be fair, there's a lot of indulgence in the story, in which the narrative barriers separating the characters from the author's crusading philosophizings becomes paper thin, and they speak with Ayn Rand's own voice. For pages, and pages, and pages. Other than that, it's a fantastic read - though, I would advise, not for everyone.
